About 4 years ago, I did an investigative journalism piece on the Committed to Education License to Learn Program and how schools were following through with their required guidelines.

The idea of the program was to sell education branded license plates in order to raise money to reward students with better technology for the classroom....

Things weren't going as planned, as I was merely a college journalist I only could take the story so far, but other news stations found out what I did as well....not everything is quite as it meets the eye...here is one story from channel 7 out of Little Rock.

2 Years in review

Ok I am sure that I don't have time right now to truly recap the last two years we have been here at Butterfield, but today is our 2 year anniversary. It has really flown by in comparison to the time we were in Tennessee.

Since we have been here we have been a number of mission trips which include Skid Row in California, Indian Reservations in Arizona, Children's Homes in Arkansas, Calcutta India among others. Those trips have truly been the highlight of our time here.

Other big projects I have worked on have been our annual Mission's Banquet Video highlighting the work of Missionaries we support as well as the missions work our teams have done as well.

We have completed two Easter Drama Passion Plays, 2 Christmas Productions, 2 Prayer Paths, and several Big Ole' Fashioned Southern Gospel Singings and Gaitherings.

Up next are a few more Southern Gospel Nights, completion of a couple missions videos, a short film, another prayer path, and a Women's Conference just to name a few.

We are staying pretty busy here and are continually looking forward to the next mission trip we can be a part of.

Up next this weekend is a trip to U of O for a Board of Directors meeting and a dinner with the President, one of our most cherished activities!

Been a Big Fan for a while

I have long been a big Fan of Juwan Howard's, formerly of Michigan, Washington Bullets/Wizards, and the Houston Rockets!

I thought his career was thrown off track by having his minutes decreased as a reserve ball player, I think even when he was in Houston he was still a starter caliber player.

Well a few years later now, he is starting center for the much depleted Portland Trailblazers. The Blazers are devoid of any real big men as they are all injured.

Here is a nice presentation of his level of play, and let me just say he has been playing extremely well as a starter, not to mention the fact he is 37.

I can't say that I have ever read all four of those chapters in the same hour or the same day for that matter. It was really interesting seeing the parallels in all of those first verses and chapters.

I really enjoyed all of the "In the Beginnings" in John and Genesis.

I think I am really going to enjoy this reading plan, focused on the NT, but get lots of OT mixed in as well.

Home Home Home!!!

Well we landed in Tulsa, made the bus trip to Van Buren, and Tiffany and I just got home a little bit ago in Ft. Smith.

Travels went relatively well, Kathy's bags got left in Dallas by American Airlines, but they will be delivering them to her tomorrow so that is good.

We are so glad to be home, but sad to have left India as well.

Let me just say though, I have never been more glad to see US Currency, Ground Beef, Drinkable Water, and Fresh Air in my life.

The trip was awesome and all too short. God did a great deal in us while we were there and it has really changed all of our lives for the better.

Over the next couple of days I will post some more photos and videos so you guys can see more of the details of our trip.

Again thanks for following us here on the Blog and for your prayers. We are glad to be home in the good old US of A!

We left the hospital this morning at 4 something...ick...

It was sad, we have made some really good friends here, although we are all excited to be on our way homes to hamburgers, clean sheets, air conditioning, and our families!

We are in a hotel in Dubai right now and leave out tomorrow morning around 8ish from the airport.

The feeding program yesterday morning was really awesome and I can't wait to post some photos for you guys, although it will probably have to be after I get back, just worn out right now and need to get some rest.

Thanks for following us and for all your prayers, I will update you when we hit New York, and probably be posting Photos and videos for weeks still as I go through all the awesome stuff we got.

Good Morning...evening...morning....

Well it is morning here for us, our time didn't change with the Fall forward as yours did.

We are about to go the Chapel, Michael Ray is preaching the devotion this morning.

We were up early early early, left on the bus at 5 something to go and feed hundreds of children and women in rural villages, sadly the two scoops of rice we gave them is the only meal they will most likely have today.

They were interested with all of us "fair skinned" people, but didn't seem to mind too much once we started scooping out the rice, they really flew through these 3 HUGE pots of it.

We are going to Mother Teresa's house today, it is where her actual tomb is. She is extremely important to the people here because of all that she did for them and this area.

I still have some photos from last night's church service I want to post, but they will have to wait, I want to put up a few photos from this morning.

Something I forgot to mention last night was that worship was in English and Hindi, and let me tell you...the language barrier was non-existent, I as well as the rest of the team enjoyed the music in Hindi just as much if not more than the English Praise and Worship, it was truly amazing!

Hey Church!

WELCOME TO THE BLOG to those of you who are visiting for the first time today please read the other posts below with videos, pictures, and of course my lovely commentary.

We had church this morning at the Baptist church in town, we were invited by Orijeet, one of the Volunteer/Hospital Administrator's here. It is his home church, Robert told us that he has never invited anyone from one of the groups to his church before. We have gotten along really well with everyone here. Orijeet is such an awesome guy!

After church today we went to the nurses school which was a really neat experience, didn't get to see as much of it due to the fact that it is an all girls school and a lot of the floors and rooms are a "girls only" kind of thing, but from what I heard it was neat. The coolest thing is that they live there and go to school there and are bussed over to the hospital to work, it is a really cool program.

We did a little shopping during our down time this afternoon, really it was just a time to relax, eat some ice cream, and have some time to smile together.

Tonight we went to the local AG church, and it was simply amazing! They had awesome Praise and Worship, great preaching and the most wonderful people. After church we went out for some authentic Chinese food, it was excellent as well...I feel plump! I was so thirsty so I had: 1 Fresh Lime Soda, 1 Coca Cola in a glass bottle, and 1 ThumsUp in a glass bottle.... :-) Yum! I had the distinct honor of sitting with Orijeet at dinner tonight, I got to pick his brain for about 2 hours as we shared the similarities and differences in our cultures, we both came to the conclusion that we married above our status, our wives are brilliant, and that neither of them have the best sense of direction :-)

He is a really great guy and has a wonderful family, it will be tough leaving here in a couple of days. We have got to spend a good amount of time with the younger volunteers here; Danielle, Brook, Donny, and Joel. All four of them are under 30 so I see eye to eye with them which is nice. They have taken pretty good care of us on our times out in the city. We travel and groups and they direct us and keep track of us. Joel does mostly media work here with photography, filming, and video editing, Danielle does a great deal of administrative work both here and back home in the states, she will be moving soon to the "Home of Hope" for women in Calcutta which I am sure she is looking forward to, Brook does a lot of organizing with children programs and is producing and maintaining the profiles for the children at the blind school, Tiffany got to help her with that on our visit, Donny is a number cruncher spending his time here helping the hospital with what I can only guess is some financial management and some other systematic organization, as far as I can tell he has been very successful. Again I can't stress how nice it has been to have them around.

Here are some pictures from yesterday I didn't have the chance to post up. I hope that you guys enjoyed the video in church this morning. I will try and post some pictures from today in the late morning tomorrow, we start our day of tomorrow at 5 a.m. with a feeding event, we should be feeding roughly 25,000 people tomorrow morning, I hope to have some really good video and pictures for you from that.

What an Amazing DAY!!!

Happy 492 birthday! The birthday of Protestantism is October 31st, 1517, the Vigil of the Feast of All Saints. On that day Martin Luther nailed his ninety-five theses, as he called them, to the door of the castle of Wittenberg, Germany.Today was simply packed full!

We went to the "Dying and the Destitute" or Kahlighat as it is known to those here in Calcutta, Mother Teresa's first charitable organization. Sorry...no photos...not allowed....seriously if you try, the nuns pretty much assault you. I did get a picture of the street and the exterior of the building.

From there we went on to see Victoria Memorial Hall, it was built for a visit Queen Victoria was making to Calcutta...a magnificent structure. She never actually stayed in it, when she did come for her visit she stayed in the governor's mansion...what a waste.

From there we walked through scary traffic to see St. Paul's Temple, truly amazing architecture, we originally thought it was a Catholic church but it is actually part of the Anglican church of India, we have some pictures below of the inside and outside!

After that we headed back for lunch which was quickly followed by a trip to the Indian Market to shop for some gifts for mothers of the children in the Cleft Palate Pediatric Ward of the hospital. Shopping was exciting and we road on Rickshaws which was quite an experience.

After our shopping trip we came back to the dining hall and packed 30 boxes full of gifts such as shampoo, baby powder, candy, brushes, and many more useful items a mother could need. We found out that a lot of the items we bought for these mothers they had never been lucky enough to have due to being from a village and always being poor.

Following our packing of boxes I worked on some video uploads and a small group of our team went to the Red Light district of Calcutta to get a real look at how terrible the streets really are here....pre-teens already being sold and used in prostitution rings...truly horrible.

Once they returned we lugged the boxes over to the 2nd floor of the hospital and personally hand delivered each box to every mother in the Pediatric wing, I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

While at the hospital, Michael ran up to the 6th floor and checked in on our Norwegian friends. It turns out that late in the night after we prayed for her, the young girl's fever broke and she was feeling much much better today. The are still waiting for some lab results on what was wrong with her before they release her, but all signs point towards a miraculous healing!

After this long day of service we treated ourselves to a night on the town. We split into 2 groups, one went to a Chinese food restaraunt and my group went to McDonald's...which served no beef :-( but chicken nuggets, coke, and fries still tasted amazing! We met up for ice cream at Baskin and Robbins and made our long trek home to pack it in and call it a night!

Following that I have been working for a couple of hours with Kevin Fontaine back home, he is in my office downloading the video you guys are going to watch in service tomorrow morning from my server!

Video is downloaded and burned to DVD, checked, and ready to go for CHURCH!

I hope that you guys are blessed immensely by the footage in the video. The video cannot convey even 1% of what we have seen, felt, and experienced here, but I did my best to give you some of the most moving footage I had.

Of course my computer was on the fritz while I was editing so the quality of my editing is not at its best and special FX are nill, but please look at the footage for what it is....India at its worst....and best.

Air quality also at its worst...had my third nose bleed this morning right after chapel and my fourth one about 2 hours ago...ick....this air is killing me....

The dying and the destitute....

Today will be a very different day for us...

Instead of spending time with children we will be spending the majority of our day at Mother Teresa's first Charitable organization, "The Dying and the Destitute" My facts may be a little off on this, but pretty much...everybody there...dies....

Once you go in...you don't come out, no humor intended.

All they do for them is make them comfortable, that's all that they can do.

We are also going to do some shopping this afternoon, we are going to buy some very nice things for the mothers of the Cleft Palate children in the Pediatrics Ward at the hospital, we are thinking body wash, soaps, etc. Very pleasant smelling things and things they are not used to having.

Air quality continues to be terrible....I had my 3rd nose bleed in 2 days...this one was pretty serious and started right after chapel service got out....got blood all over their nice hardwood floor :-(

Mom...don't worry I am ok!

But I wanted to share that to depict how rough the air quality has been on all of us.

Selfish Blog....

I call this my selfish blog...because...it....is....about.....

ME!!!!

ok...soo anyways, I am converting and compressing some video footage right now and had about 15 minutes to spare and I figured I would spend them with you all.

I am up late tonight down stairs in the basement/Mess Hall working on a video that will hopefully be used in Sunday morning's service back home...hint hint, cough cough, wink wink. A couple of the missionaries here are watching a movie up late just taking it easy...of course I was on duty tonight...their DVD player was on the fritz...so...I fixed it! :-)
*dusts off shoulders proudly*

We had a pretty amazing thing take place tonight, after we got back from the blind school we took about a 2 hour break and then went to the hospital to serve meals to all of the patients. It was really neat, we split up into 4 or 5 teams covering all floors with patients, their are 8 floors in total. My team was the top floor. Michael Ray, Kathy Wright, and myself. We served several different rooms which consisted of Indian Citizens, Canadians, South Koreans, and a pair of very sweet Norwegian women.

What was so neat was when we walked into the room with the 2 Norwegian gals, they looked very down and somber, yet extremely surprised to see the happy smiling faces of 3 very white people walking into the room with their food. The one girl that was the patient was very sick running a fever that was rapidly fluctuating....when it was up...she was miserable...when it was down she felt fine...while we were there she felt miserable....

We talked with them for just a minute or so and then Michael bluntly asked what I was already wondering: "Would you two girls mind me asking you if you are Christians?"

the non-sick Norwegian girl placed her hand over her mouth and looked to be fighting back tears and responded with a head nod and a wimper of yes. She asked us how we knew, and Michael simply replied we didn't know, but can we pray with you?

They were thrilled to have us pray for them, we let her know we were going to lay hands on her and pray as the Bible instructs us to do, we prayed for her that the fever would disappear and that her health would be restored. We plan on checking in on them tomorrow and see how they are doing!

They let us know how appreciative they were and that this was the biggest blessing they had received all day. It was great for us to have that feeling of knowing that we helped somebody, and that it simply came out of just taking them their evening meal.

What is even more moving to me is when I place myself in their shoes....2 very young foreigners stuck in an Indian hospital with no friends or family around, one with a sickness/illness that the doctors can't figure out and is making her miserable...really no hope at the very moment...most likely praying that God would help them and reveal himself to them...then 3 Christians walk into their hospital room asking if they can pray for them.

All I can say is that it was awesome for us, but if I was in their shoes that would be such a confirmation of God caring and letting them know that he is never going to leave them or forsake them.

Hey Mom and Dad, love you!

We are doing well, today was a very good day!

We worked with children at the Blind School, OH MY GOODNESS they are the most amazing people, precious, beautiful and so very talented!

I don't want to say too much I will let Laura explain in her video, but I will post some photos...along with one photo I have been wanting to post for a while.

Health is pretty good here, off and on one or two of us will feel sick, tired, or both...but we think it is mostly due to lack of sleep, different diet, and lots and lots of continuous travel and hard work, not to mention dehydration and heat exhaustion. We are all always looking after one another so no worries!

We are on a little break before feeding children in the children's ward at the hospital tonight.

This sweet little girl singing was born blind, but that wasn't good enough for her parents...they decided in order for her to be a proper begger and more efficient that they would stick her feet in flower pots for an extended amount of time in order to make her handicapped when she walks as well....

Sorry for not posting anything yesterday afternoon, but we got home late and then pretty much passed out.

We had a great time visiting 3 different rural clinics.

1 Clinic in particular opens at 3 in the afternoon on Thursdays, it has only been open for 2 months, which translates into 8 days...in those 8 days it has served over 1000 patients.

Back to our talk about our mission work, I am actually at breakfast trying to get some content up for you guys.

So the clinics were really just amazing, they are literally out in the middle of nowhere. 3 hour drive from the nearest hospital...and most of these people walk, especially the ones who make the trek by foot from Bangladesh.

Today we are going to the Blind school so that should be a really neat experience. We are taking some toys for them to play with, but the most important thing is that they can hear and feel what we bring for them to play with. To be clear, this is a school for Blind Children.

I met the sweetest little girl last night at the third clinic. She was 9 years old, her name was Marian, and she was working on a computer writing thank you letters to people who had donated Rupees to the school. She had the sweetest little voice, and spoke perfect English with a little British accent.

We drove a lot, and a lot, and a lot, and a lot yesterday.....hours and hours.....miles and miles....and we didn't have one accident, our driver Bob-UH-LOU is AWESOME!!!!!

Night time was really scary, there is no roller coaster that can compare to the fear and excitement we get from our rides with Bob-uh-Lou....the difference is you know what to expect with a roller coaster...a beginning, a few loops, and an end.....on this bus...you don't know what to expect....horns honk, people yell, vehicles slam on their breaks, goats and cows fighting in the streets, pedestrians running at full speed in wide receiver hot route patterns with 50 pounds of bricks on their head, and all the while Bob-uh-lou keeps his calm and doesn't flinch one muscle.

Breakfast was great this morning, they had OATMEALLLL!!!! my favorite...they call it porridge, I really don't care what they call it, but it with a pack of sugar and a spoon is all I need.

They had it with our breakfast the first morning we were here and it was great but didn't yesterday.... we were all sad....

:-(

they had it this morning and we all cheered. We all also added sugar to it and that was foreign to our chefs, one of the resident volunteers here had to explain that their oatmeal was just perfect we southerners just like to add sugar to everything!

We leave in just a few for the countryside, we are packing up lots of water and electrolyte packets to make sure we don't have anybody else go down from heat exhaustion or anything of that nature.

A Far off place

Well we are going out...into the middle of the India Countryside today to spend some time with people in very very rural medical clinics.

Not sure what to expect, it is a little after 5 right now and I am already feeling geared up.

We are literally going out to a place where Christ is not showed off regularly. this is a predominantly Muslim community. We have mostly been dealing with Hindus who have been more or less laid back about our Christianity, so this should be very interesting.

We hope that we can touch the hearts of these people by showing them love like they don't see anywhere else. Mostly this will be women and children who are easier to reach than the men here so that is a plus for us right off the bat.

Our women are going to have to dress a bit more conservatively today than they have been, so far this week t-shirt and capris has been conservative enough, but today they will have to really cover up, which stinks since we will be out in the heat all day. We need lots of water, strength, and prayers from you guys back at home today, we will literally be out in the middle of no where.

So this afternoon we spent time at another school.

These kids were so so great and loving and ready to truly be loved. I can't wait to show you some of the photos and videos.

I am a little behind on my posting, mainly because we have had no breaks since we have been here. I am in the midst of a 90 minute break right now, but that is the 1st we have got, we have been working nonstop.

We were all up at 5 this morning and will be going until late tonight, don't get me wrong, we love it!!!! but we are dead dog tired.

I think we are growing as a group, devotion in the mornings is awesome, our team did praise and worship with Robert this morning for Devo so that was really neat, I think all us crazy pentecostal "white" people might have freaked out the locals, you know us, singers, dancers, and praisers....can you imagine how they would have reacted if C.R. had come.....

yeah.....

I am going to post 3 videos and 5 more pictures right now and try and get a lot more done tonight.

Currently one of the volunteers here has my memory card because hers was full, she has an awesome camera so i let her use it and I will get it back later and upload today's photos in hopes of getting completley caught up for you guys.

Let me just say how awesome it is to spend time with these kids, we truly don't know how good we have it back home, and surely the kids in the U.S. don't either. These kids were so EXCITED to spend a couple of hours kicking a soccer ball around with Rachel, Laura, Michael and myself. they loved doing arts and crafts and singing and dancing with the rest of the group. They are so starved for love and attention. When I went inside after playing soccer, I don't think I had sat down for more than about 10 seconds and I had 8-10 kids climbing all over me, hugging, tugging, smiling, crying. They just want someone to love them. Tiffany and I, like everyone else brought some toys and trinkets to give to the kids, we had stickers, they just went crazy of a simple little sticker. They are so grateful to have anything.

Last story for now, need to upload those videos, but yesterday at the other school, we were passing out pixie sticks....yes...sugar....little kids....parents probably weren't happy with us....anyways....

Laura had passed all of her pixie sticks out and one little girl came over to her with half of one left and begged Laura to take it. why? because she saw that everybody else had them, but Laura didn't....so a 6 or 7 year old girl can comprehend the love of Christ on such a level that she begs Laura to take the only little gift she has probably received this month. It was really moving to see the little kids comprehend the concept of giving out of what you have.

I have hopes of sharing more with you, and maybe some video interviews from some of our team. Again thanks for your prayers, thoughts, and contributions. It is so amazing to see what God is doing, what He has done, and what He is going to do.

The video below is part of the long walk down the hallways of the pediatric ward, this was our first time to stop in and see all the children with their cleft palates, as you will see in the next couple of videos, they are the sweetest little children. Let me also say that this is no state of the Art hospital. They do the best they can with what they have, and they do it well....but it is better described as a low quality version of a Vietnam Field Hospital, we have it so easy in the U.S.

This next video is of a child with a double cleft palate, I don't know how rare that is, but it is rare enough that I have never seen or heard of it before, I warn you now....this is some VERY VERY GRAPHIC FOOTAGE, if you have the heart and stomach to see this footage you should, if you don't I challenge you to still watch the footage for the simple reason of you need to know what these kids are going through, you need to be thankful for what you have, your health, your kids' health, etc. God is touching lives here, the hospital we are working with is the vessel God is using the change the futures of these children. Without the surgery they receive at this hospital, they would be worthless to this culture. Right now they are just "throw aways" Truly sad....and amazing....watch....

This next video is of another child in the pediatrics ward, such a sweet little child, innocent, and completley in the hands of God at this hospital, it is so amazing what they are doing for these children.

I am waiting on this final video to upload and figured I would spend that time sharing a little more while I had a few minutes left before we leave again....

Something that we can't share or depict with pictures, or videos, or even words for that matter is the smell here....

I know that sounds weird, but it is such a strong odor that sometimes it is very difficult to breathe without gagging. It seems as though each of us is struggling with the air at different times....but listen to this....the smog here is so bad....that breathing here for 1 day is the equivalent of smoking 3 packs of cigarettes.....yeah...terrible...

But the people urinate in the streets dump their waste in the gutters, the #1 fossil fuel is cow pie....you think I am joking? They cook over cow pie fires....I will post a picture of cow pies stacked upon each other like what we do with fire food...

Imagine the worst stench you have ever smelled in the world....then....lock it up in a room for 5 years and let it mutate into mutant stench....then and only then could you begin to imagine some of the smells we have here.

What a ride

We took an hour ride or so this morning through the poorest area of Calcutta, very emotion stirring.

Sorry no photos or videos last night, had a lot of people using my VOIP phone, and I passed out like a log as soon as I laid down.

A couple of people in our group got sick and worn down last night, but all are doing much better today, thanks for your prayers.

So many things I want to write about but they will have to wait until tonight.

Got up at 5 a.m. this morning left at 6 for our ride...can't say enough about how poor the people are here.

One story about a 9 year old boy who earns money for his family by scraping coins off the bottom of the river with a magnet...

The innocence of children....

Well we have been here for about a full day now.

Everyone so far is blown away by this place, 18 million people packed into this city...we drove for an hour yesterday and we didn't even get half way across the city.

We fear a stomach bug may be circulating among us, please pray for health, peace, and rest for all of us, as time changes, frequent travel, different diet, and not much sleep does not combine for the best health.

The people with the mission here are just great, they have welcomed us with open arms and we went straight to work this morning spending time at school. A few pictures are posted below. I will try and upload some video tonight things have just been crazy.

Look at the smiles on these kids' faces, they get this kind of love and attention only about once a month when a group comes through, their parents don't send them to the school because they care about their education, they do it because they get a free meal.

I have no hostility towards these people, we all truly feel for them. They work so hard and do what they can just to get by...a full weeks worth of work for the average Indian...55-60 hours will only get them about $20-$25. That is not an hourly wage, or a daily wage...that is a weekly wage...which they don't get paid. They receive their payment for labor monthly and have to budget it out. So an average Monthly wage for an Indian citizen is about $80-100. They just can't provide for themselves.

We are in INDIA

We landed in India about 10 minutes early, 7:40 A.M. on the 26th.

We are now 11 and 1/2 hours ahead of you guys back in Arkansas...so Midnight for us is like....11:30 A.M. for you...very awkward.

Kolkata (Calcutta) Time

We spent most of today get oriented to the area and learning about the organization we will be helping.

Let me just say that Bob-A-Lue, our driver is clearly the most qualified driver in West Bengal (that is the state in India that Calcutta is in).

They drive on the left side of the road here and there is no order whatsoever, very nerve racking at times, but like I said, our driver is AMAZING. The people here are awesome, great hearts for missions. We are extremely excited for the work God has for us to do over the next 9 days.

The food is interesting, some really like it, some are unsure, and some haven't really tasted it yet, some of us skipped dinner tonight because they were dead dog tired. 40 something hours of straight travel will do that to you.

Dubai, Dubai, Dubai

We landed in Dubai on time with no problems.

This is a very nice airport, we took full advantage of the use of showers in a hotel inside the airport to freshen up for our final leg of the flight.

The flight from New York to Dubai was long, interesting, long, entertaining, and long.

Public prosecutor Leif Johansson mulled pressing charges against the firm but eventually opted to settle for a fine.

"I've never heard of a robot attacking somebody like this," he told news agency TT.

The incident took place in June 2007 at a factory in Bålsta, north of Stockholm, when the industrial worker was trying to carry out maintenance on a defective machine generally used to lift heavy rocks. Thinking he had cut off the power supply, the man approached the robot with no sense of trepidation.

But the robot suddenly came to life and grabbed a tight hold of the victim's head. The man succeeded in defending himself but not before suffering serious injuries.

"The man was very lucky. He broke four ribs and came close to losing his life," said Leif Johansson.

The matter was subject to an investigation by both the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket) and the police.

Prosecutor Johansson chastised the company for its inadequate safety procedures but he also placed part of the blame on the injured worker.

Camping in the Winter

Ok....technically it isn't winter yet...but this weekend it felt like winter when we went camping with Michael and Bridgette.

We went up to White Rock and did some tent camping, made a fire, went on a hike, cooked our own food...very fun.

The best way I can describe where our camp out was located at would be to say..."go out into the middle of nowhere...turn right...and then go about ten more miles.

I will upload some pictures soon...

We did really good with everything, putting up and breaking down tents...building fires...etc.

The only thing that went bad was that I picked up a scalding hot rock and burned my fingers pretty good...they are getting better, so other than that it was a GREAT camping trip.

Well the wind blew literally between 40-50 mph on top of the mountain where our site was at...and the temp was sub 40 degrees pretty much the entire time too, but that just added to the fun of it.

We had a little dog that lead us on our 3-4 mile hike around the edge of the mountains...it was a great hike, great scenery and just awesome to be out and about in the fresh mountain air. There was actually one point where we saw somewhere around 100 leaves floating UP it was really cool. Pretty colored leaves defying gravity all at the same time.

A New Week A New Day

Today just flew by super fast. It was a super busy day that started early and ended late, but it flew by really fast. It was a good day, I got a lot done, still have tons to do.

Tiffany and I started our first fire in our fire place tonight which is totally cool. It puts out pretty good warmth in about a 5-6 ft area. Tiffany and the cats right now are actually sleeping in front of the fire place...it's sweet.

I set up a small sound system for a guy singing for the Gideon's dinner tonight. He was very nice, had a great voice and was very appreciative. You got to always love when people are extra appreciative.

One of our Big lights exploded during service friday so...we are going to have to replace that which is not easy or cheap...but we will make do. The Lord will provide.

A Great day today and I went 5-2 in today's chunk in my fantasy league improving to 45-22 so that is great as well. I finally will have an entire healthy team at the start of Wednesday's chunk...yay for no more injuries.

Well today I got to go back to the University of the Ozarks for a Board of Directors meeting, it was good. Got to debate and vote and some other cool stuff. I really enjoy being on the board. Ozarks is one awesome university and that is all there is to it.

I am tired tired tired but that is ok. I am about to get online and kill some terrorists with Greg so that should be fun.

I am starting to get excited about the election and gas prices, other than that it has pretty much been a normal Saturday.

That was a long week. Banquette was good last night, but I didn't get done putting the sound stuff up till late which delayed me getting the Mission Trip video done...I stayed until the weeeeeee hours of the morning working on it...I am less than satisfied...but Tiffany says it is good...we shall see.

It is good to have Lilly back, she is sleeping right next to me on our couch. In about an hour Greg and I are going to battle the forces of evil and destroy some terrorists...can't complain too much there.

Tiffany made a great dinner tonigt, Pork Chops, Aug Rautin(SP*) Potatoes, veggies, garlic bread...and of course Apple Sauce to dip my chops in...yumm yumm! So I am once again pleasently plump...*sigh*

Tomorrow I head to the University of the Ozarks, my Alma Mater. I am on the Alumni Board of Directors, and we have a meeting tomorrow. My committee has some very important business to discuss so it should be an eventful day. It is always great to go back and see the school and some of the friends we have that are still there. Ozarks will always have a special place in my heart.

Well I need to get geared up to go blow away some terrorists...ooh we also have a sim in my basketball league tonight, wish me luck, I am #4 in the East right now, let's hope I move to #3 and no more injuries, my stud Zachary Reyes has been down for about 40 days he has 15 or so left...Once we get him back things will be in full swing!

A lost loved one recovered

GREAT NEWS, LILLY is home!!!!

She got stuck in the next door neighbor's garage, I went in and rescued her this morning, she was so happy to see me...or maybe it was simply the prospect of our warm bed and some food and water...I don't know...but we can pretend it was the site of me...at the crack of dawn...eek what a site!

So anyways that was great we were losing sleep over it...literally.

Today I finished moving my office to our upgrade, that was a fun process....moving stinks, and rehooking up and editing suite stinks even more...I doubt rehooking is really a word.

Long story short I got the editing computer up and running, still have some things to take care of before it is finalized...but we are pretty much "IN" our new office now...pictures to come sometime soon. WOOT!!

We have a banquette tonight at the church for Teen Challenge so that should be an awesome event, I am dressed up which is always fun as well.

Well today was a long day, but good as Lilly was recovered.

Well Wednesday which is our longest day of the week started off very badly...

Tiffany and I realized this morning that our sweetest cat, Lilly, is missing!

The best we can figure is that she slipped out of the garage when we were leaving for work yesterday. We didn't get home last night until after dark and Tiff worked on her computer and I played some video games and went straight to bed, didn't think to look for Lilly, as we didn't let her out of the house.

Well Tiff is home today searching and making fliers and posters, I went by the humane society, but no luck yet.

I kind of feel sick, and that rain I was so looking forward to I wish would hold off while our baby is lost outside.

Our cats are indoor/outdoor, but we only let them out when Tiffany is home. This is easily the longest period of time she has been gone from us.

If you think of it pray a little prayer that she comes home to us.

Another Day in Paradise

Well in my fantasy basketball league the trade deadline passed yesterday.... *sigh* that is my favorite thing to do in that league...trade, trade, trade, and more trade...everyone in there knows it too...but I am good at it as well.

Well we had a Staff meeting today, and all went well, just making plans for our community wide Thanksgiving service. I had one good idea in there so that was good. We had staff lunch afterward as well...which is always awesome. Our church cook, Sally, is AMAZING!!!! We had Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Carrots, and Salad...oh yes and Country Gravy....bad to the bone...I am plump now. I washed it all down with a couple of cups of Sweet Tea too...that hit the spot.

This has been a good week for our website as we already have 500 visits, not hits, but visits. Last week we have over 2100 visits which is GREAT! Work is good.

My friend Evan from college stayed with us this past weekend which was awesome since we had not seen each other in 6 months, sad. Sad to see him go back to Little Rock, but it was still good to have him stay for a while.

Sadly enough he found out on his way home that one of the anchors for the show he produces at KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock was beaten nearly to death in her home in an apparent burglary. She is in critical but stable condition now, keep her in your prayers. Here is the story about it.

On a more positive note the weather is getting cooler and it looks like we will have some good rain tomorrow. Yay! Tiffany and I both love cooler weather and rain, so what is usually a dreary day for others is great for us.

Two weeks ago I spent about a week away from Tiffany on a Mission trip which was the longest time we had been apart since getting engaged, sicne we have been married neither of us could remember being apart for more than 2 nights...if even that. It was nice to come home to a nice home, beatufiul wife, and three lovely kids...I mean cats...sorry. Anyways being away from something you love for a period of time often will remind you how much you love it, or how great it is. I am not encouraging anyone to go a week without their spouse or food or anything like that, but just think about how hard it would be and then realize, "Ahhh, I am a lucky and blessed DUCK!"

Let's start off with the basics, my name is...Ryan....my wife's name is Tiffany. I work for a church. I am the media guy! I love basketball and the Houston Rockets are the bomb, I am also a member of a fantasy basketball league that is completley made up...very awesome hobby, but complex to those on the outside, you will hear about it from time to time.

Most people generally don't like Mondays, I guess you could call me indifferent, but Mondays don't bother me one bit. This is my first post on here, I decided I wanted a creative avenue to talk about my life. For friends, family, and anyone else who cares.

Most Mondays for me consist of catching up on e-mails, phone calls, and my long list of things to do...like getting my new office set-up...pretty much the bane of my existence right now. I am having to re-set-up my Editing bay, that equates about 25 cables and another dozen plus components ranging from Mini DV deck to speakers to dual monitors etc. Great when it is up and running...a big pain to move!

Tiffany and I have almost completed our move to our New, Improved, Bigger Office. We didn't even ask for it, the church just wanted to be an extra big blessing! They figure with all the Media junk we have, and as loud as I get sometimes with my video editing, it might be better for us to move down the hall to the bigger and better office! No complaints here, except computers stink to move.

Well it is time for me to call it a day. I will be writing again soon, and I promise not to leave you all hanging on waiting for the next post for too long.
